Children's Ministry

  • Horizon has partnered with Devoted Ministries (Manitoba) to offer this 12-month certificate that gives practical, hands-on training for those who want to serve in children’s ministry. The program takes place in Manitoba and involves studying at Devoted Ministry’s School of Ministry and by distance from Horizon. Students also complete a summer internship serving at camps and other relevant ministries. This certificate can serve as the first full year of the B.A. Children’s Studies.

     

    Students take the following Horizon courses:

    1. Introduction to the New Testament (3 hrs)

    2. Spiritual Disciplines I (3 hrs)

    3. Spiritual Disciplines II (3 hrs)

    4. Elective (may be offered away from Horizon by faculty member approved by Horizon college) (3 hrs)

    5. Internship (6 hrs)

    6. Children’s Ministry Practicum (3 hrs)

     

    Total hours at Horizon: 21 hours

     

    Additionally, Horizon will recognize transfer of 9 hrs credit from Devoted’s School of Ministry (focuses on Bible Memorization, life training classes taught by local guests, focusing on such ministry-related matters as finance, time management, effective ministry to children, work with volunteers, plan to protect training, etc.; discipleship times; hands-on training in evangelism; church ministry; weekend and short-term ministry trips).

     

    Total: 30 hours

     

    This 1-year certificate can be used as the first full year of a 4-year degree at Horizon College.
